Trip Overview

Nestled just north of Kathmandu, the Langtang Valley Trek offers one of Nepal’s most rewarding Himalayan experiences. Combining breathtaking mountain scenery with rich cultural encounters, this 9-day adventure takes you through picturesque landscapes, traditional Tamang villages, and alpine wilderness—all within easy reach of the capital.

Journey Highlights

Your trek begins with a scenic drive through Nepal’s countryside to Syabrubesi, where the real adventure starts. As you follow the Langtang River upstream, you’ll pass lush forests of rhododendron, oak, and maple. Along the way, you’ll cross thrilling suspension bridges and walk beside cascading waterfalls.

Gradually ascending, you’ll reach the charming Langtang village, rebuilt with resilience after the 2015 earthquake. Here, you’ll witness the strong spirit of the local Tamang people. The trek’s highlight is Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m), where ancient Buddhist stupas stand against a dramatic backdrop of snow-capped peaks like Langtang Lirung (7,227m).

Why Choose This Trek?

Unlike crowded trails, the Langtang Valley Trek offers peaceful wilderness and authentic cultural interactions. At Kyanjin Gompa, you’ll have time to explore the famous cheese factory, visit the monastery, and hike to Kyanjin Ri for breathtaking 360-degree Himalayan views.

Trip Itinerary

Plan for a daylight or early morning arrival in Kathmandu so that you have more time to prepare for the treks. Our representative together with our driver will meet you at the airport. They are coming to the hotel with you. In order to brief you on your treks and inform you of any necessary things or treks, the guide will be present for a coffee meeting. Inspect your gear and clothing. Make sure you have all the necessary equipment and supplies by doing any last-minute purchases. In the late evening, you will gather with the other members of your team for a welcome supper.

Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi via a lengthy, picturesque drive to reach the trek's beginning. After breakfast, we will set out on our tour. While driving, take in the vistas of rivers, terraced farmland, and mountains. It feels like you are entering deep terrain when you walk through Dhunche.

The track initially follows the Langtang Khola and crosses Bhote Koshi. This path goes through the area of landslides and eventually rises to bamboo. After that, your walk makes a gentle ascent past Bamboo (1960 meters), which is situated on the bank of Langtang Khola, to Rimche (2400 meters). At last, your route meets up with the Lama Hotel. Along the trip, you might spot bears, monkeys, and red pandas if you're lucky.

Gumanechok is the trail's path; Ghoda Tabela called it "the horse stable." After this, the trail becomes a little more scenic as it winds through the valley where the yaks are grazing. The views from Langtang village, one of the trek's more secluded and historic settlements, are increasingly breathtaking as we approach the peak.

The walk today is shorter, but it's plenty to get you used to it. Because of the well-known cheese factory nearby, the surroundings are also fascinating. This beautiful valley is surrounded by the Langtang Lirung and other peaks. A spot to hike many minor peaks and explore the valley. Stay in the guesthouse for the night.

Today is a great day to unwind and take a stroll. Explore the cheese factory and monastery, hike up the glacier to see the stunning ice faces and calving glaciers on Langtang Lirung, or ascend Kyangjin Ri (4350 meters), the highest point of the trek and the point directly behind the settlement, for an amazing view of the Langtang peaks.

You will be treated to an amazing vista as you return to the Lama Hotel. Kyanjin Gompa is a beautiful stroll downhill from The Lama Hotel. Take in the views and the paths that you will encounter.

Leaving the mountains behind, we descend to the Syabru Bensi, where our journey began. Before arriving in Nepal's hilly region, you will be able to enjoy the beauty of the Himalayan region.

We'll eat a hearty breakfast before taking the 9-hour bus ride back to Kathmandu from Syabru Besi. Stay in a hotel for the night.
