Trip Facts

The 3-day Kathmandu Valley trek starts from Sundarijal after a short drive from Kathmandu, a 2-hour local bus ride, or you can add a private car supplement at an extra cost of US$60 (return trip). The trek's starting point, Sundarijal, is within the Shivaluri National Park, which offers magnificent waterfalls along the Sundarijal stream. Sundarijal means "beautiful water" in Nepali. It’s a very peaceful trail, with the relaxing sounds of water, birds, and some animals. After an hours hiking in the Shivapuri National Park, we will arrive at Mulkharka village, which offers beautiful views of Kathmandu valley and the village itself. The trail runs through the Shivapuri National Park, with rhododendron forests, many wildflowers, and a variety of flora & fauna. If you are lucky, you can see wild animals like deer, monkeys, porcupines, wild boars, etc. We arrive at Chisapani village, located in the middle of Shivapuri National Park. We will spend our first night at Shivapuri village, or continue our walk for 2 more hours and stay overnight at Jhula Village. We are heading to Nagarkot, the famous viewpoint, to see the high Himalayas and beautiful landscape. We will spend our 2nd night at Nagarkot. We will start our 3rd day hiking after a sunrise tour to Nagarkot View Point. The hike on the 3rd day is pleasant, passing through beautiful terraced farmland and the local life of Nepali farmers. We finally arrive at the Changunarayan temple, the oldest Hindu temple in Nepal. Lunch and visit the temple before we drive back to Kathmandu, or visit Bhaktapur if time allows, as we pass through on the way back.
