About Us

Adventure Glacier Team

From a porter’s to a founder's Vision (1996-2004)

Adventure Glacier story didn't begin in the office, but it began on the rugged trail of a high mountain. In 1996, our founder arrived in Kathmandu from a Himalayan village with a determination to work and create a future in the city. He started his career from the bottom as a porter for a Danish trekking agency.

While carrying the loads through the mountain passes, he didn't just gather knowledge about the trail, but he also got to learn the soul of the tourist. He got the opportunity to see what travellers truly crave. They do not race just for the product but for a connection to the land. With a decade of transitioning from porter to a lead guide, he understands that industry service was getting saturated and missing a personal touch. On January 1, 2004, Adventure Glacier was born with a mission to craft a trekking experience which feels like coming home.

“Nepal once isnt enough”- A promise that is kept

Adventure glacier doesn't just believe in Nepal’s famous tourism slogan, but it's living it. As for today's data, over 50% of our guests are repeat travellers who have chosen us for their second, third or even fourth trekking and tours. For us, you aren't a tourist on a fixed price package, but you are part of our history. We specialise in creating a handcrafted journey while adjusting the pace, interest and taste to match yours precisely.

A New Generation: Commitment for Nepal

At a time when over 65000 youth look abroad to shape their future, the Sapkota family chose a harder path. While growing up seeing their father building his legacy, Diwakar and Manisha Sapkota joined Adventure Glacier in 2023.

They bring a modern and academic edge to our deep-rooted experience in Tourism :

Diwakar Sapkota: While holding his Bachelor's degree in Travel and Tourism, he brings a scientific and data-centric approach to itinerary design and focuses more on sustainable practices.

Manisha Sapkota: As she has a background in Banking and Insurance, she ensures our safety protocols and top-notch operational standards.

Right now, they are pursuing their Master's in Travel and Tourism Management to ensure that Adventure Glacier gets a competitive advantage in the global and local market while keeping their feet firmly in Nepalese soil.

Our “Giving Back “ Philosophy

We believe that tourism should forever be a “Sustainable cycle of benefits.”

What comes from local goes to the local: Our founder started his career as a porter, and we treat our team like a family. We hire our guides and porters from the region you explore, which will help to ensure that some amount of your investment goes directly into the hands of the local communities who protect the trail.

Commitment to ecological preservation: We are fully committed to reducing our carbon footprint and plastic waste as much as possible. We also request our fellow trekkers to use reusable bottles so there won't be the use of plastic and the trails stay clean. We don't only trek through nature, but we also preserve it for the next generation of our travellers.

Why choose Adventure Glacier? Because you are booking with a family that has spent 28 years in these trails of Nepal, from heavy bags in 1996 to the Master's level expertise of today.
