What will you experience in the 4-day Bandipur Village and Chitwan National Park tour?

The tour begins with a scenic drive west from Kathmandu through a newly constructed Nagdunga-Sisnekhola tunnel. The drive will be along the beautiful hills and village settlements near the Trishuli and Marsyangdi rivers to reach the hilltop settlement of Bandipur.

Bandipur is not just a hill station for a stopover but a beautifully preserved window to experience Nepal's 18th and 19th-century trade history. Following Prithivi Narayan Shah's conquest of the Kathmandu Valley in 1768, there was a resourceful migration of Bhaktapur merchants to Bandipur to escape malaria and capitalize on a strategic location. They transformed a simple Magar village into a trans-Himalayan trade route that connects India and Tibet.

Bandipur is a living museum, as it was bypassed by the modern Prithvi Highway in the 1970s, saving its heritage. You will explore walking in a pedestrian-only street lined with traditional Newari townhouses, which feature lattice windows, pagoda-style roofs, and colonial-influenced verandas from where you can enjoy your cup of coffee.

Bandipur to Chitwan - Hills to the plain terai

Begin your morning with a magical sunrise view of the ranges like Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Manaslu from the Tundikhel parade ground. Before starting our journey, you can also visit the historical Padma Library, which was established during the Rana administration and mirrors the political power Bandipur once held.

With a hearty breakfast, we will descend from the hills, hearing the crisp chirping of birds, into the subtropical lowland of the Terai region. We will drive through a scenic road to reach Sauraha by early afternoon. After checking into your resort, enjoy your delicious lunch and have a rest for a while. You will enjoy an evening walk to Tharu Village to observe and experience their daily life and their traditional houses. In the evening you will enjoy traditional cultural dance performed by the Tharu people. If you like, you can also enjoy dancing with them at last.

Chitwan Safari - Jeep safari

You will begin your day with a delicious breakfast with a wider variety of choices. After a delicious breakfast you will drive to your canoe ride. It will be one of the best canoe rides, as you will be riding in a canoe made with wood of the forest. You will float in a rapti river with other travelers exploring aquatic and wild life. The crocodile and gharial will be taking a sunbath, and the bird will welcome you with its chirps. You will also experience wildlife coming out to drink water and how they live in the forest.

After a 30-40 min canoe ride, you will end your ride in infront of an elephant breeding center. Here you will get to know how elephants are bred and also meet cute little elephants. You will drive back to the hotel for your lunch, and after lunch you get ready for your jeep safari.

A Jeep safari will be around 2 hours, so make sure you have enough water for your ride of a lifetime. A Jeep safari in Chitwan National Park is one of the once-in-a-lifetime moments, as it's home to different types of deer, birds, and flora and fauna. Blooming flowers will welcome you with a smile. The animals you can normally see are different types of deer, monkeys, rhinos, peacocks, and different types of birds. Tiger footprints can also be seen on the way, and if you are lucky enough, you will spot tigers and their cubs.
